Low student interest in mathematics remains one of the problems in the learning process at school. This requires learning innovation through the use of interesting and interactive media, one of which is video-based learning media. This study aims to determine the effect of video-based learning media on students' interest in learning mathematics in grade VII at UPT SMP Negeri 3 Painan. This study uses descriptive quantitative analysis and correlation analysis. The sample for this study consisted of 23 students. Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires and observations, which were given to respondents consisting of 15 items for the independent variable (X) and 15 items for the dependent variable (Y). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson's product-moment correlation test. The results showed that there was a positive effect between the use of video-based learning media and student learning interest, with a correlation coefficient of (0.650), which was in the strong relationship category and greater than the t-table value at the 5% level, which was 0.4132. The implications of this study indicate that video-based learning media can be used as an alternative learning strategy to increase student learning interest in mathematics learning.
