Abstract

Mathematics is an essential subject that trains students to think logically, critically, and systematically. However, many students still perceive mathematics as a difficult subject, especially in the topic of curved solid figures. Observations of grade IX students at SMPN 3 Ranah Pesisir showed that most had not yet achieved the minimum mastery criteria (KKM). This low achievement is suspected to be related to psychological factor, particularly students level of self confidence. This study aims to determine the effect of self-confidence on students mathematics learning outcomes in the topic of curved solid figures. The research employed a quantitative correlational method wit a sample of 51 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a self-confidence questionnaire and a mathematics achievement test, then analyzed using t-test and pearson product-moment correlation. The result showed a positive and significant correlation between self-confidence, and mathematics learning outcomes (r = 0.80 ; sig. = 0.001). Thus, higher self-confidence contributes to better  mathematics learning achievement.
