Objective: Understanding mathematical concepts is an important skill that students must have in mathematics learning. This condition shows the need for analysis of the level of suitability of students' understanding of mathematical concepts. This study aims to analyze the suitability of students in understanding mathematical concepts in circle material at SMPN 3 Ranah Pesisir. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive analysis methods. The research sample involved 21 students from class VIII 1 who were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations based on indicators of mathematical concept understanding and satisfaction with the material. The data were then analyzed using percentages and categories. The results showed that the respondents had a “Very High” level of understanding, 3 respondents had a ‘High’ level, and 16 respondents had a “Moderate” level. The suitability of concept understanding was seen in indicators such as material understanding, student involvement, ease of concept understanding, and satisfaction with the material. These findings indicate that most students still need improvement in understanding mathematical concepts. The implications of this study emphasize the need for more effective learning strategies to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts.
